Over the past 15 years, IRIA court recognized subject matter experts have worked on and studied over 260 cases of injury and death in the moving water environment. This included the completion of detailed analysis of the factors that led to these unplanned incidents.

We use this information to develop certification standards for course levels, instructors and operations. It also allows us to continue to improve and develop training methods and activities.
